Yep, it's my favorite show right now. I love the rival houses and the whole Shameless feel of it all.

I feel as though you missed a lot in this show. All your questions were answered in the show on many occasions.

I couldn't even get passed 15 minutes of the first episode. It was just to much to deal with & watch it made me cringe, after hearing them say they rape the women who were caught doing prostitution I shut it off

I tried so hard to like it because I love historical shows but damn they are really just milking the sex part of it. There are only so many sex scenes before I get bored 😐like the plot was not good 😂it had great potential. Nice visuals but the plot was 👎🏾

They did have basic hygiene but not our concept. The girl died of an STI, syphilis not the plague.

Birth control, contraceptives and hygiene existed back then. Some of the forms of birth control were unsafe and very primitive. It definitely makes me appreciate living in a modern world. I'm going to watch this show. Thanks for the review Grace!

Love your review! Harlots make me feel blessed to be born in 1989. I think the worst aspect of the show (and time period) is sleeping with decrepit, crusty, abusive men or else. Take Lucy for example, her mom sold her to her rapist. "Is this life?" Would have to be a serious question I would ask myself daily if I were a harlot.

The show is very dark and twisted but it's really good. In one of the scenes there is a girl washing a condom which were reusable during that time. I think the show is about female empowerment; just not in the watered down version we normaly get. Its a show about the everyday horrors that went on for women who weren't wealthy; and how a girl who was sold by her mother at 10 for a pair of shoes became a leading Madame.
