WHY FIFTY PLUS BEAUTY? Once I passed fifty, I was looking increasingly old and worn-out. Through watching other wonderful 50+ women here (like Angie of HotandFlashy, Melissa55, Mary Ellen After 60, Beauty by Anne-Marie and many more), I have made positive changes in my makeup and skincare I would like to share.

Through taking and using their advice, I have seen positive changes in my skin through using Retin-A, light chemical peels, dermarolling and other anti-aging procedures; and my makeup through lightening up, using better products and getting rid of the glitter.

Please subscribe to Fifty Plus Beauty to see my weekly videos. I HOPE YOU’LL MAKE YOUR SECOND HALF, YOUR BEST HALF! XXOO Beth

Beth, I just love your honesty and that you're willing to open yourself up to all of us. It's about time that we talk about the things we go through at our age because it's not just all about makeup and skin care and hair and perfume. Our bodies go through so many other changes that we aren't prepared for and in the blink of an eye they're there and are a new challenge for us to face.

Last year I had to have an ultrasound because of pain I was having in my abdomen and my doctor sent me in to an OB/GYN. Turns out that my doctor had me on just estrogen and not progesterone for the last 6 years and my uterine wall was so think she was convinced that I had cancer and there were growths inside as well. The day I saw her (and she didn't do any physical exam at that point) I started bleeding heavily and that kept going for 6 weeks straight. Further testing revealed that I didn't have cancer and that I had fibroids but again, one doctor wasn't doing what they were supposed to do as far as having me on the right medication. Funny, we were changing our insurance too and the OB/GYN was nice enough to come in on her day off since it was the last day of the month to do my surgery so we could squeeze it in but I ended up with a hysterectomy. Why don't we talk about that on our channels and how that changes our bodies and the effects that has with our skin?

Who ever said "grow old gracefully" was so wrong. I'm going to do it kicking a screaming! 😂 I also love the It's A 10 products, especially the leave in conditioner and I even use that on my yorkie. It keeps her hair soft and shiny and much easier to brush out between bathes.

Again, thanks for being so honest. Love ya!

Beth, I just loved your first empties video. It was so informative, and as always you did a great job presenting the information. I use a lot of the Timeless products that you use. I believe they have a 50% sale going on this weekend, so I need to place an order. Great story about the doctor, surgery etc. My doctor told me several years ago that everyone over 50 should be using Metamucil every day. You said in an earlier video that you were in sales – I'll bet you could sell ice to an Eskimo😀. Have a blessed weekend!!

Beth, you did a wonderful, helpful, educational video. A lot of woman do not know about bowel problems, so I am so glad you brought that up. My mother had horrible bowel and gut problems. So I know pretty much what's going on. Now if someone is constipated there are two products, that are natural and really work, they are Mirapex-powder form you can get generic too and it works the same. Also another product would be Senokot-pill form and you can get generic in this one too. Both of these products were told by my mom's doctors to try and they worked wonders. I have to use the Mirapex(genric) once or twice a month and it works and no cramping, matter of fact there is no cramping or pain with either one. Well, again thank you for a really good video, I am going to try that Suave dry shampoo. Take Care and GOD BLESS YOU xoxo😇❤

Hi Beth: Great "trash." I am going to try the It's a 10 conditioner that you like. If you want to try another volumizing mousse, try John Frieda's Luxurious Volume Perfectly Full Mousse. It's been working very nicely for me; I have fine, color treated hair that is cut into a short layered style (not a pixie) and I've been getting nice volume without sticky residue. Enjoy Memorial Day Weekend, Carol M.

Love your videos! I really appreciate your down-to-earth approach to sharing your experiences and wisdom about things other "beauty gurus" don't talk about. I turned 60 this year, and find that every body part is changing, virtually overnight! In your short time on YouTube, you've already been a big help to me in trying to slow the aging process down. Thank you!

Tell me more about the Derma E scrub that you use please? I also use Retin-A and find that I need to be careful about products on my face for exfoliation. For example I no longer can use my Clarisonic even with the sensitive brush head . Some scrubs sting and some scrubs are too rough. I pretty much use a konjac sponge and either Mario badesco glycolic acid cleanser or White Marble soap by Erno Laszlo.

Indeed! l use a rule of three. If three roadblocks happen when you are trying to get something done, get someplace, buy that thing, etc…. then it's just not meant to be so move along. I have diarrhea from a complication of having my gallbladder removed (called Dumping Syndrome of all things)… so YES to fiber! I just started incorporating Chia seeds into my diet as well because you get not only the fiber but also Omega 3 fatty acids which is a win-win for me

Love your videos you are so sweet and relateable. Wow that was quite the story about the visit to the surgeon. It's amazing how the universe works giving you that warning. I too suffer from digestive issues (IBS and Diverticulitus) it can be a real problem some days but I have tried to manage it without surgery (don't want to go through that). It's crazy how things seem to change about every 5 years (for me anyway) as we get older. It's a full time job keeping on top of everything lol 🙂 but well worth it. Let's make the second half, the best half!!!

I also LOVE the Its a 10! You just reminded me to go order it. We use the same Timeless products, but I have one more that I use. Since you are 4 months into your Retin-A (I am 2 months in) you may like it…

To help with my negatives from my Retin-A 0.05% cream. I use the Timeless B5 Hydration Serum to help with the peeling, redness, and inflammation (read about it at their site) timelessha.com/products/vitamin-b5-serum-1-oz

The B5 is a Potent moisturizer, anti-inflammatory, and excellent for wound healing. I also keep it in my purse while away from home for later in the day (with makeup on) if I see areas of peeling I just dab the B5 right on those spots. No, it does NOT disturb my makeup because I dab it. Later when cleansing the dead skin easily falls off. You may want to try it if you have the same issues.

Love, love Metamucil, I suffered from colitis in my forty's, it was awful. I've been drinking a glass of Metamucil every night before I go to bed for many, many years. Along with diet, it has been a miracle for me!! And Beth, I still say, I'm going to the "Beauty Parlor"! Enjoyed your empties today❣️

Girlfriend, you are pumping out lots of videos; you have been very busy! I saw the most effect when I started using my DIY Vit C, where I started at 5%, and graduated to 20% (acetic acid, distilled water, Vit E, glycerin). Most recently, I changed to The Ordinary's vitamin c suspension 23% + ha spheres 2%. It feels a little different, but it's equally as effective, and I don't have to make it myself every 7-10 days! It's also a lot cheaper than most Vit C serums, and it is much more stable. Metamucil makes me literally gag, (thanks for the reflex watching you drink it!) related to the thousands of doses I have given to many people over the years! A lot of my patients who hated the taste, and consistency of Metamucil do so much better with Benefiber. I add it to my morning shakes, and my Mom tolerates it mixed just in water, because it dissolves into a liquid so much better than Metamucil does, and it's also tasteless! I get mine at Costco. If your Metamucil ever starts to make you gag, maybe you can run the Benefiber by your physician to see if he thinks it's another effective option for you! It's odd, but I was shocked at the cult following with Bath & Body Works, especially here on You Tube; This company makes $2.5 billion in annual net sales by selling highly, and artificially -scented lotions, shower gels, candles, and other fragrances, etc.! When they first arrived here, I couldn't believe how highly-fragranced their stores were, and how scented their products were! I've only gone into one twice, and I had to leave within ten minutes after developing a severe headache from the heavy fragrances in their store. Many churches, hospitals, stores, government buildings, and public places have actually been deemed scent-free in many municipalities, here . You can't even wear fragranced skin care products, deodorants, hair spray, etc., let alone perfume if you go to my Mom's Church, for example, or you visit friends in hospital, or attend a concert, movie, etc. We have also chosen to go the scent-free option, and IF I occasionally buy a scented product, it has to be very light, and preferably fragranced naturally, and/or organically. I specifically never wore fragrances at work when I nursed, so it seems natural to me. There are many people who have developed significant allergies, and environmental sensitivities to the chemicals, and artificial scents added to many of these heavily fragranced products which led to the adoption of requiring public places to be scent free. It surprises me that others have chosen to 'amp up' their use of artificial fragrances in products, and within public establishments. It would be good to see companies like Bath & Body works reduce the use of artificial scents, and chemicals in their products such as methylparaben, triclosan, proplparaben, butylene glycol, butylphenyl methylpropanal, tetrasodium EDTA, BHT,ceterareth-20, among others. Maybe they will bow to public pressure if more consumers demand organic, and healthier ingredients, and options! Sorry for my rant; I'll hop down off my soap box, now! I could have used your Derma-e cream for my neck, and chin today. I didn't noticed I was peeling like a snake until I looked in my car mirror, in bright natural sunlight, kilometers from home! I did my second derma-rolling session on the weekend, and the peeling had commenced! Do you peel too, Beth? I hope this procedure is effective, and worth the effort, and discomfort, missie! It's not my favourite thing to do, I have to be honest! Hopefully, I'll be able to evaluate its efficacy after the 4-5th use. What have you found? Thanks for sharing your trash, Beautiful! Hope you are having a great week, Sherrey💌

lolol You sound like me , at first I didn't get into the trash video watching.. But now I do as I thought of it the same as they share more of the product of what they really think of it.. I have not tried " It's a 10" products but I know many love them..OoOoO I might try the TRESemme mouse, I have the same Loreal one now and it is nice. LOL Okay you must be reading my mind, I want to get the citrus bath and body, I have had it before and a hand soap from " soft soap" smells of the scent, and it reminded me of that Citrus one. I might try a couple products from timeless ,as I know our beautiful MaryEllen loves them.. I am using a Retinol from Obagi and am noticing a lot more difference to my skin since I been using it.. It is pricey ,but I am loving a good bit of products from the line.. Thank you so much for sharing , always enjoy hearing others in what their doing for health and beauty. Love and blessings xoxox <3
