Bulova was an interesting watch manufacturer during this time period. It was was a fight against the electric and quartz watch movement and Bulova took the strategy of producing extremely high quality in-house cal. 11 ANAC automatic work horses to compete. Today, these watches are excellent examples of competitive innovation during a difficult time for the mechanical watch industry. The Sea King came in several dial configurations, the most rare being this one with a whale emblem and the word “Automatic” below the emblem. This watch has a Bulova signed case, size 38mm lug end to lug end and approximately 34mm in diameter including crown. No personalized engraving back, original acrylic crystal, original cream colored dial and case finish, original luminous hands and indices; original crown. The watch comes on a good condition period leather strap and was just overhauled and working as it should.
