Miss USA Kara McCullough Triggers Liberals With Her Health Care and Feminism Answers (REACTION)

Close ×

Miss District of Columbia 2017 and now Miss USA 2017 Kara McCullough has angered many liberals and self-proclaimed feminists online due to her answers posed to her during the Miss USA beauty pageant. First, she was asked if she describes herself as a feminist and she said that she would rather substitute the word “feminist” for “equalist” and that everyone has a fair shake and no one person is better than the other. She was then asked if health care for all US citizens is a right or a privilege. Her answer was that it is not a right, but a privilege, and our focus as a country should be on providing jobs so people are better able to afford the things they need, such as health care. Beautiful answers from a beautiful brilliant woman (she is a nuclear scientist!)… but apparently not so good for the angry feminist detractors online.

Twitter nearly exploded when she read the answers to the questions and at this point she was participating in the competition to become Miss USA like everyone else. When she won the crown of Miss USA 2017, another wave of vitriol came in her direction from some of the aforementioned people plus a whole lot more. They were wondering how she was able to win with such “non-progressive” views on health care and feminism. At the same time, however, she got a lot of support, including Miss Massachusetts (of Miss America) who said that she shouldn’t be getting so much grief for simply not expressing a socialist viewpoint.

A take away from the whole kerfuffle here is that not everyone is a walking dead zombie hooked on liberalism, socialism, and/or communism. Some people are able to think for themselves and develop their own sense of self rather than a toxic form of tribalism. Another thing to think about is that you cannot judge a book by it’s cover. Or location for that matter. Just because Kara McCullough lives in Washington DC and is a woman does not mean she has to be a liberal or a feminist. She does not have to be masculine just because she is in a male dominated profession of a nuclear scientist. At the end of the day, those characteristics she possess, along with her striking beauty, appear to be why she won Miss USA 2017.

And concerning her views on feminism: if it wasn't for feminist views and activism, the Miss America contest would still be exclusively lily white.

Shameful that the so called Miss America without a heart believes healthcare is a privilege. It's beyond politics. She doesn't have a problem with the suffering of the poor, those who don't have jobs that provide insurance or that pay so little health insurance is unaffordable? Doesn't sound like American values.

Actually this is one area where I can't side with conservatives. When it comes to something like Bernie squaking on about free college, that's absolutely ridiculous. But with your health… I mean… couldn't we do away with the entire health insurance system if hospitals were paid for by taxes like police or fire fighters? Some things are government run. But what that means is that everyone does have the right to be protected by the police. You don't have to pay a la carte. You don't pay per bullet, when you need a cop to come rescue you. Same with fire. If your house is on fire, you don't hesitate to call 911 because you can't afford it. But last year my sister and I drove my dad to a hospital when he had a stroke because he was freaking out that he couldn't afford the ambulance. I'm just saying what's the difference? why the inconsistency? Maybe it could be like roadways where the government is in charge of that, and it's paid for by tax money, and tolls are a flat but affordable fee, and then the government can opt to contract out roadwork to private companies. So… it's not that it's a government run hospital. It's not that the doctor is forced to treat you. It's just that it's paid for by tax money instead of by insurance. And then you'd just have to make some rules, if you smoke, if you are morbidly obese, etc. you don't get a free ride if you are doing harm to yourself. Just a thought. For me, I pay for my own health insurance, and I have a very healthy lifestyle so the current system is fine for me. I don't suffer under it. But ethically, if there is anything you do have a right to, I would think health care would be it. Nobody deserves to die because they didn't have the money.

Conflating government provided health care with slavery is pretty fucked up. You don't need to pull the race card to be effective.

Think a little deeper, Anthony. It's not as shallow and frivolous as jealousy over this woman's looks. Despite the stereotypes, there are obviously many feminists who are very attractive. But, they are godless, ideological zealots and the young lady is speaking against everything they believe in. What she's saying is a threat to their sense of entitlement and desire for supremacy. It's got nothing to do with jealousy over her looks, for Pete sake.

When did they start asking such politically-charged questions at beauty contests? Whatever happened to "what is your greatest aspiration?" or "who have you felt most inspired by?"

If you don't help the poor with health then what kind of culture do you have?
Sick children and adults more likely to resort to crime to obtain a means to pay for thier kids health care.

What about equating her feminism to maternitism where she wouldn't let a poor child die?

"Rights" are God-given – they are things you are inherently born with. They can't be given to you by man, they can only be taken away. Rights are NOT perceived entitlements taken from others. This is a very simple concept that mystifies many liberals.

thank you for the post; I would point out that she didn't get the script and actually demonstrated that "skin/gender" mean little in many fields.  I find it refreshing to find an "American" winning this type of contest.  I don't watch these due to the near occasion of sin on my behalf but you can have brains within a beautiful package.  I guess I did pretty good anyway as my wife of 30 years is the most beautiful woman I know, after the Holy Virgin.  May our Lord Jesus Christ guard and guide your steps; in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.

UPDATE!!! On GMA this am-Newly crowned Miss USA Kara McCullough back peddles, reverses course, basically saying "my bad" for upsetting all the effin snowflakes regressive trollistic a-holes by correcting herself- "Two days later, she took a seat across from Good Morning America's Michael Strahan to respond to the mounting backlash surrounding her answers. In clarifying her points, it sounded like she shifted her stance.

"I am a woman, I'm going to own what I said," she responded. "I am privileged to have health care and I do believe that it should be a right and I hope and pray moving forward that health care is a right for all worldwide." Talk about kowtowing to these miserable a-hole leftist douche bags…WOW for someone so smart, so dumb…

All citizens should have health care the US is one of the few first world countries that doesn't , you and Kara are privileged clearly, there needs to be less people like you in the world in order for America to be a better place , it's not taking labor by force you fucking idiot it's about humanity and being humane I am thoroughly disgusted by you and your views kys please make the world a better place

Check Nordic countries, they lead pretty much all statistics measuring quality of life and they all have practically free health care paid from taxes and no-one has problem with it. Anyone can get some serious disease or condition and you think only wealthy people should be properly taken care of?? That's inhuman in my opinion, just making the already huge difference in quality of life between rich and poor in USA even greater.
