I just recently got some products by The Ordinary and I think The Buffet is breaking me out as well – it's not just you!

Concerning Paula's Choice Retinol Booster: go for their Clinical 1% Retinol – same price, twice the amount of product, more beneficial ingredients than the booster (just remember to disassemble the packaging when you think you ran out as there are at least 5 more applications hidden in it)

I've been using the advanced retinoid 2% at night before my Juice Beauty eye and night creams. I haven't really noticed a difference yet, but I only started using it about 1 week ago. I do like the feel of it, and how quickly it absorbs into my skin.

Loving your hair! I luckily have been able to use the Buffet and haven't had any issues. I also love the Rose Hip Oil. Still trying to get my hands on the Marula Oil. This was very helpful, will try a couple of the other ones you mentioned! Thank you! xxoo

I'm in Mass, and get my Ordinary deliveries in 2 days! I ended up with severe breakouts with their Niacinamide too. It was my entire jawline, huge painful cystic ones ear to ear. It was horrible. I never even got one pimple like that as a teenager. Using the Paula's Choice one now with rest of my skin care, and they went away. I love the 30% peel and the Caffeine. My body loves caffeine in any form though. Waiting for the IV version. πŸ™‚

Have you ever tried the SkinMedica Retinol complex 1.0? That is something I am thinking about trying. Right now I am using the Paula's Choice clinical 1% Retinol treatment. I have seen some improvement in my skin. I haven't tried the PC 1% Retinol booster yet.

I like the ordinary 2% retinol, use it for two night then PC 2% clinical retinol for one night. I like this combo. I did buy the ordinary 1% retinol and wow super strong I use this every third night on my neck and chest, I shy way from it on my face because it has dimethicone in it. I have oily skin with enlarged pores and in the NC summer I find it a bit much. Might try it out for fall/ winter because it is a lot cheaper the PC, $9 vs $58.

I went to my local CVS on Monday and was surprised to see Hylamide products on the shelves in the skincare aisle! Is this a new thing, or have I been living under a rock? Anyway, I bought the Low-Molecular HA Multi-depth Hydration Booster, and I can't wait to try it. They also had a vitamin C serum and a couple other things from the line.

Yes, the Buffet clogged my pores. I've purchased hyaluronic acid from NIOD, but it hasn't arrived yet–heard it might be the most effective brand (and they're formulating a newer version soon as well).

I use the buffet at night. I can't use it during the day AT ALL, it makes me a complete oil slick that no matter what I do or blot it does not go away. I have oily skin type and I am usually oily around 2pm but when I use the buffet I get oily right away and makes my foundation separate. I will also finish mine but I don't think I will repurchase.

i think the ordinary is really grwat for pwople that are just getting into skincare or hace been using drugstore skincare which is me lol so thankdully Ive seen good results and also beautylish is great to order from i placed my order through them this time instead of deciem because the had the vitamin c in stock and deciem hasnt had it for a while also love theyre packaging and they put cards for each poduct you order what it does what you can mix it with etc. and I really like that and they have amazing customer service..and surprisingly i havnt had any issue with the aha/bha peel the glycolic acid ir the vit.c I was worried because anytime i use a clay or mud mask type product they burn but i only get a slight tingle with the peel and its only for a sec. and with the glycolic toner just the first few times i used it i got just a little tingle nothing uncomfortable and nothing at all with the vit. c and after hearing peoples reviews saying it burned i was shocked to not get any tingle…i just recently started using the advanced retinoid 2% it is def. milder than the 1% thats why I went with it but ive heard ret. products take months to see resluts I think gothamista said it could be around 6 months of continued use to really see resluts so I really want to give it a fair shot before trying something else but i might try the ret. 1% after a few months if I dont see any results

I've actually had the exact same experience you had with the Ordinary's 2% Retinol AND the Buffet. And I have a different skin type than you. I'm now back to using prescription tretinoin and I use the Metryxl Synthe 6 serum from Timeless. They have 50% off sales usually around holidays (Labor Day, 4th of July, and Memorial Day) and I really do live their Vitamin C serum and their CoQ10 serum. Since you did have good luck with the 30% AHA 2% BHA, I'm going to give that a try. I tried a sample of the Babyfacial from DE and LOVED the results but if I could get the same results with a fraction of the price tag, I'd be stoked. Thank you so much for your honest reviews – I enjoy them!!!

Thank you love! Love trying stuff from the Ordinary bc the risk is so smallllll! I like their Niacinamide a lot!! And I think their mild acid is good! I've only used it a handful of times, though b/c I use the Obagi, but I think I'm going to like it!!

How about the Argireline? I use the HA, the matrixal & the Retinol 2%. As like you I see no big difference with the retinol but, will continue to use it as I think the 1% may be too much for my skin. I'm a 57 yr old that has just in the last year gotten into my skin care. I know … late to the party but I'm trying now to repair and/or reduce what damage I've done. I love how down to earth and straight forward your videos are… what a breath of fresh air! Thank you.

the 1% is way harsher than the 2%. the 1% formulation can be more irritating but it's definitely more potent cuz it's really retinol, not esters

Melanie would you be able to do a retinol comparison video? Have you tried the Differin that's available over the counter? Regarding the Ordinary I have some hits and misses as well. Love their Rosehip, Marula and Argan oils. Their BHA wasn't as good as the Paula's Choice and more expensive per oz. Timeless has better Vitamin C, Squalane and Matrixyl for cheaper than the Ordinary when on sale. Sales are usually 50% off. I surprisingly enjoyed the Ordinary's B5 although Timeless also has B5 that I will try as next. I like the 30% peel, 7% glycolic, 5% Lactic and 10% Lactic from the Ordinary. The Ordinary's Arbutin was too strong to be used all over as it made my acne scars lighter than the rest of my skin. Although it's great as a spot treatment. The buffet is Meh… I don't notice a difference and will not be repurchasing. There are much better Hyaluronic based serums for the $30 price range that are better and have better ingredients or also contain niacinamide. Have you thought about doing a series called "This is better and or cheaper than the Ordinary? Or look what you get if you spend $10 or $20 more. Granted I like the Ordinary, but it's not the end all be all. I'm happy it's giving healthy competition to some big name brandsπŸ˜€

I've only bought their hyaluronic acid dropper bottle and their HA moisturizing factors lotion – love it. It's the only thing I'm working into my skincare now (retinoids will dry me out too much, as per my dermatologist's recommendation), but then I am extremely dry and struggled with it for years. I use the blue tin Nivea moisturizer with the HA underneath both morning and night, and I am pretty much pleased with how my skin is doing now at age 45. My first wrinkles are gone with this combo. Love it to bits. Other people might need more than a HA, but I use it day and night and it's just the solution for me.

I had the same issue with the oil and email. It frustrates me too since they should at least have that figured out. In my opinion its a good company that wasn't prepared for the hype. I do believe that they should have never released the color collection without having these issues solved already though. They absolutely knew they couldn't keep up with the demand in skincare and 100% knew that would likely happen again.
