Happy Memorial Day weekend! Even though summer doesn’t really feel like it’s here yet in Boston, I think we’re not far off – so I wanted to share my favorite products for what has historically been my least favorite season. BUT – it’s grown on me. I can now appreciate summer more than I used to be able to, honestly by just knowing that I am *not* a sun person and do best in shade pretty much all the time. Anyway rambles. xoxo! mercedes.

Hi Mercedes, I like that nail polish color on you!! You could try Zoya Nail polish in the shade Yana, it is a great summer shade. I have been wanting to try Suntegrity products, and just ordered the 5 in one in light. I am also interested in trying the Antonym powder, Stark, and Osmia facial soaps. Have you tried the Skin Owl facial soaps?? Have a wonderful week!!😊😘

I'm kinda sad to here you're going to ditch that nail polish. I think it looks amazing on you! I was feeling real envious about how good it looks because I could never pull off that tone (I'm a true green olive).

Hey! I watch your videos every week, I just bought the MyChelle tinted sunscreen in spf 50, and it's amazing! It's a physical sunscreen and reef safe, and it's not oily! Try it out!

I had been looking for a great wear-under-makeup SPF moisturizer for literally years until I tried Suntegrity per your recommendation. I went through a phase of using Korean skincare brands that worked well but had questionable ingredients. Then I tried brands like Juice Beauty and Mineral Fusion, however I could NOT find a decent SPF moisturizer that didn't leave an awful white cast on my face until I tried Suntegrity! I got the 5 in 1 face sunscreen in the shade fair and it is the besttt. Since I live in Houston I definitely need to wear sunscreen everyday, and this stuff is amazing. Thanks for always coming through and providing informative and genuine feedback on products. Your recommendations have seriously never let me down! xoxo

I like the theme of this video. I have been thinking about changing out my winter products as it heats up. You're tempting me to foray into corals! Coola SPF is pretty velvety. Any thoughts on the new glossier SPF? Trying to determine if it's hype or not…

Hey! Great video – especially appreciated your thoughts about SPF. I alternate between a chemical-based (la roche-posay, though I plan to try their mineral face sunscreen) and more natural (pratima) spf for face every day that I apply in the morning, but I've been struggled with the whole "how to reapply spf lotion over a face of makeup issue" for a while since I workout in the PM post-work and love to take long walks outside, but I of course want to protect my face. I've looked into powder SPF including the one you mentioned, and I'm just not happy with the packaging or price point. So, I've decided to try my hand at a DIY spf powder with both a (non-nano) zinc and titanium dioxide base along with other powder ingredients (arrowroot powder, cacao powder, etc.) to better match my skin tone and to prevent any white cast. I'll definitely keep religiously applying my traditional spf lotion as a base, but I'm still afraid about putting too much "faith" in a diy powder concoction based on some online recipes I've dug up. I guess a little trial and error will need to go down before I decide whether I can make it without a store-bought spf powder. If the DIY doesn't work out, I definitely think store-bought powder is the best option to keep my face protected at the end of a long day. Thoughts on this? Have you come across any DIY powders yourself?

this summer I am experiencing a newfound excitement for lady-danger-esque orange reds. it's so flattering! although I have a problem on how to dress for it. usually a good match with an all-dark attire, orange reds clash easily my bright tops hahaha. white blouses are the way to go (I don't own a lot of it, unfortunately) + extreme care to not get food and ice cream on said blouse :p

also, I was curious if you're ever worried that the sunscreen you use is enough? especially if it's only in your tinted moisturiser. I live by the general rule of one teaspoon for face (Wayne Goes has a video about this).

looking forward to the face oil line up!

You may also enjoy the Suntegrity face & body self tanner.. not quite as expensive as Eco Tan, got it from Dermstore 20% off 🙂
Another new product I love is the Drunk Elephant Umbra Tinte.. no titanium dioxide though 🙁 Love it almost as much as the Josh Rosebrook, for like less than half the price 👍

Great video to kick off summer! Like you I avoid the sun and am stocked up on the Suntegrity products. The sunscreen is the best I've used, most others have bothered my skin. Can't wait to put MM Moonstone back into the rotation as well as Bite MCLC in Sucre and Rosehip (which is about as orange as I'll go, I hear you with the cool toned fair skin!)
Can't wait for upcoming videos, especially BH since they hit it out of the park with the Max and Me!

We totally got your back girl(for supporting your channel)! I already picked up items like Suntegrity for the Summer because of you mentioning them and Lost Cherry. I think I am going to try Juice Beauty or Becca for Pressed powder because I think the two you mentioned, I would need more matifying power, but maybe not. So excited about all the videos coming up!

Ha ha, I am a complete sun avoider too. My husband, who has the sort of perfect deep Italian complexion that I envy, says I've turned him into a vampire because we have to primarily operate at night or stand in the shade & dart from the car to our building when we're out during the day. PS I've been a devoted sunscreen wearer since I was a teenager & for what it's worth, the very best one I've found is Reflect by a brand called Cosmedix. It's SPF 30, titanium dioxide, madly expensive, and has an occasionally leaky spray nozzle, but it's the absolute best in my opinion. Love the video! Xx

Great video! I've tried just about every eco/mineral sun protection products out there, and my absolute favorite has definitely been the Kimberly Sayer ultra light spf 30 which does have a combo of the zinc and titanium dioxide. I like that it's not too heavy so I really feel like I can pile it on without a greasy feeling or white cast. Just an fyi, I personally wouldn't be overly concerned about the fact that there aren't many eco options around 50 spf since the difference is minimal. 50 blocks 99% of the rays, while 30 blocks 97% 🙂

What about Badger sunscreen. It's only offered up to a 35 SPF Sport formula but it contains Zinc Oxide which is a broad spectrum that protects fully from all UVA & UVB rays. It you gave Zinc Oxide, you really don't need the Titanium Dioxide. They have a rose face formula with 25 SPF (tinted or untinted) that sounds nice too 💚🌹

Arcona's Reozone comes in 40 SPF and is a combo titanium dioxide and zinc. I have it in 20 SPF and really like it. Had I known it came in 40 I would have gotten it. So titanium dioxide protects from UVB and I think 25% of UVA rays, whereas zinc protects 100% of both so having just zinc in the Suntegrity is giving you great protection, even without the TD.

JR did a blog post on how percentages of zinc don't equate more protection. Here's the link if you're interested:

HI! I may be wrong, but it sounds like you might be confused about what SPF means? SPF doesn't really measure the strength of sun protection, but more so, the duration of sun protection. In other words, a higher SPF doesn't equal more or stronger protection (there actually isn't much difference between 30 and 50- I think something, like, 1% maybe?). Anyway. SPF is more of a way to determine how long you'll stay protected before needing to reapply sunscreen. I believe the formula is the number of minutes you normally burn after being in the sun x the SPF. So, say that's 10 minutes. 10 x (SPF) 30 = 300 minutes of protection, etc. etc.

Thanks for the video. Great collection of summertime products. And I'm so glad you included the info about bismuth oxychloride because I've been looking for a travel friendly powder and now know to avoid that one. Bismuth is actually a safe mineral for most but it's a very common irritant that can cause itchiness and hives for some people. Unfortunately I'm one of those people after using bare minerals for years and becoming sensitized to the bismuth in it.

I, too, hide from the sun. It's finally in the 70s here in Minneapolis and I have my body spf, my top up body spf spray, and hats out and ready. I am one of those people who is out running errands and my chest will lightly burn if I have a v-neck tee on. 🙄 I got suntegrity tinted in fair for my face and really like rotating it with the JR.
